Physiothapy Near Me - Oakridge
The Oakridge area was one of the last neighbourhoods to develop in Vancouver and remained largely a forested area until the 1950’s. Prior to this, the area featured the Langara Golf course built in the 1920’s and a number of larger institutional buildings.
Oakridge mall was built and opened in 1959 by Woodward’s Stores and has the distinction of being Vancouver’s first shopping mall. Unlike today’s enclosed mall, which appears like a carbon copy of malls everywhere, this mall was a single level open air structure.
As the neighbourhood is relatively recent it features no historic housing and has little in the way of heritage features. Oakridge was dominated by bungalow type homes that were built in the 1950’s and 60’s. With times always changing, the area is further developing into higher density buildings along Cambie Street and at Oakridge Center.
